Unit Secretary-Reimburse Spec
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE Works with the Nursing Department Manager to ensure accurate patient tracking and data entry. Responsible for interpreting, entering and auditing appropriate nursing charges using the SHS computer program. This position may also perform Unit Secretary duties. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Emergency Department provides care for patients with a wide variety of needs from non-critical to emergent medical conditions including emergent and urgent mental health care. All patients are welcome whether walking in or arriving by emergency transport. All Emergency Department staff are certified to care for critical cardiac and trauma patients including children. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience and/or training in medical terminology, health care delivery systems and reimbursement systems required. Previous hospital experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Time Management: Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure. Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues. Customer Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Computer Literacy: Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software. Ability to operate applications, enter data, and manipulate and process information. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and information systems.
