Marketing Communications Manager

Position SummaryThe Simons Foundation is seeking a Marketing Communications Manager to lead the strategy and execution of high-impact, multi-channel marketing efforts that advance our scientific and grantmaking mission.This role is responsible for designing and driving integrated campaigns that connect researchers and institutions with funding, research and career opportunities, while strengthening engagement with the broader scientific community. The Marketing Communications Manager will work in close partnership with the Senior Vice President of External Relations, program leadership and grants teams, operating as a strategic advisor on how to bring initiatives to market effectively. This role sits within External Relations and reports to the Senior Director, Communications.This is a full-time position based in the Simons Foundation offices in New York City. Visit the Simons Foundation career page to learn more.Essential Functions/ResponsbilitiesOwn the end-to-end strategy and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across email, web, social media, paid channels, and events in consultation with the SVP of External RelationsTranslate program priorities and research initiatives into integrated marketing plans with clear goals, timelines, and measurable KPIsDrive visibility and engagement for funding, research, and career development opportunities, ensuring they reach and resonate with the right audiencesServe as a strategic partner to program and grants leadership, advising on positioning, messaging, and go-to-market approachesDevelop audience segmentation and targeting strategies to effectively reach researchers, institutions, and key stakeholdersDesign audience journeys that drive engagement and action (e.g., funding applications, event participation)Ensure consistency and alignment of messaging across channels and touchpointsPartner with editorial, digital, and creative teams to develop content, storytelling and multimedia assets that support campaign objectivesGuide the creation of materials that communicate opportunities clearly and provide value to applicantsEnsure all outputs reflect the foundation’s voice and make complex scientific information accessibleImplement testing and optimization strategies to improve campaign performance and reachLead integrated marketing for events such as webinars, symposia, and workshops, including promotion and follow-upManage workflows, timelines, and campaign calendars, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality workMinimum QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degreeAdvanced degree or relevant experience in a scientific or research-focused environment is a plusExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in integrated marketing, communications, or related roles within philanthropy, academia, healthcare, government, or other mission-driven organizationsDemonstrated experience leading multi-channel marketing strategies and campaigns with measurable outcomesExperience working with complex or technical subject matter and translating it into effective audience-facing communicationsSkills & Other RequirementsProven ability to partner with senior stakeholders and manage cross-functional initiativesStrong understanding of audience segmentation, lifecycle marketing, and campaign optimizationExcellent writing and editorial judgmentProficiency with marketing technologies (email platforms, CRM systems, analytics tools)Strong project management and organizational skillsRequired Application MaterialsPlease submit a résumé and cover letter stating your interest in the positionCompensation And BenefitsThe full-time annual compensation range is $95,000 - $115,000 depending on experienceIn addition to competitive salaries, the Simons Foundation provides employees with an outstanding benefits packageOur Commitment to Expanding Pathways to Science & Opportunities for AllMany of the greatest ideas and discoveries come from a diverse mix of minds, backgrounds, and experiences.
