This position is expected to support, as necessary, the University in the event of any unplanned event, natural or otherwise outside of normal work hours.This position will perform all duties throughout the year. The scheduled hours for this position are Monday-Friday 6:00am-3:00pm. Departmental Information: The Facilities Management Services is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and construction of the Oregon Tech campus. The department supports the education of approximately 3,000 students and the activities of 400 faculty and staff. The Facilities Services department employs 36 full time workers and varying numbers of part time workers and student laborers.Facilities Management Services is made up of three divisions working together such a manner as to support the college teaching and community service goals while minimizing consumption of natural resources and providing other services to the college which ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment with effective use of economic and human resources. The grounds division maintains over 250 areas of green space inclusive of planters, grass, shrubbery, trees, irrigation systems, athletic fields, sidewalks, roads, and parking lots. Minimum Requirements, Per the Classification: Pesticide applicators license may be required based on position duties;AND One year of experience as a grounds keeper;OR Two years experience in any occupation providing knowledge of horticulture and grounds keeping practices and procedures. Additional Minimum Requirements: Team player Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time. Ability to climb ladders. Self starter. Ability to move objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to pass a company physical. Current valid drivers license; and the ability to maintain a current valid drivers license. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in irrigation repair and installation. Pruning experience Landscaping experience including proper tree and shrub planting techniques Landscaping experience for lawn planting/sod instalation,grading,fertilizing,watering,and mowing.Special Instructions to Applicants: Applications are exclusively collected through the Oregon Tech Job Board.
