Press Brake Technician (CNC Sheet Metal Fabrication)
Location: Newport News, VASchedule: Full-time | 1st and 3rd Shift AvailablePay: Starting at $18.00/hour (higher based on experience and skill level)Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Press Brake Technician to support metal fabrication operations. This role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating CNC press brake machines to form and shape sheet metal components with a high level of accuracy. Candidates should be comfortable working in a production environment where precision, efficiency, and safety are essential.Core ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC press brake equipment, including loading programs and selecting appropriate tooling and diesPrepare machines for production runs involving light-gauge panel bendingInterpret engineering drawings, bend schedules, and material specifications to ensure accuracyVerify measurements and perform quality checks using precision tools throughout productionIdentify and correct forming issues such as spring back, tool wear, and material inconsistenciesAdjust machine settings or tooling as needed to maintain product qualityPerform routine inspections, maintenance, and basic diagnostics on machines and toolingMaintain detailed records of production runs, including materials used and part countsFollow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspaceWork independently while making sound decisions regarding setup and production processesMinimum RequirementsAt least 5 years of experience operating CNC press brake equipmentAbility to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsKnowledge of materials such as galvanized steel, aluminum, and stainless steelProficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsSolid math skills related to fabrication and measurementAbility to lift 50-75 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and squatting for extended periodsComfortable working in varying temperature conditionsPreferred QualificationsExperience working with graphical CNC interfacesStrong organizational and situational awareness skillsBackground in manual press brake operationEquipment UsedAmada HG1003 ATC Press Brake (100 Metric Ton, 3 Meter)Amada HG1303-M30 Press Brake (143 Ton, 10')Amada HD 1003 ATC Press BrakeAmada HDS-8025 NT CNC Press BrakeThis role is ideal for a skilled press brake operator who takes pride in precision work and thrives in a fast-paced fabrication environment.We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
