Summary
Description
Utilizes basic actuarial techniques to analyze reserve levels for direct and net loss and loss adjustment expense reserves. Determines monthly incurred but not reported (IBNR) reserve level changes based on analysis, changes in premium levels, and changes in reinsurance.
Performs rate level analysis by line of business and supervises completion of periodic impact studies and state filings required to implement rating changes.
Prepares and documents data submissions and reporting to external actuaries and regulatory authorities. This includes but is not limited to completion of Annual Statement Schedule P, quarterly reserve development schedules, and work with external and internal auditors, actuaries, and examiners.
Applies analysis skills to design and maintain reports to assist management in decisions regarding reinsurance, profitability, growth, reserving, and other areas as needed.
Assigns/delegates the work of the actuarial assistants, trains them in their duties, and reviews their work.
Required Education: Bachelors in a job-related field
Specialized Training: Successful completion of 5 Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society exams. Each additional exam completed may substitute one year of required work experience (prerequisites excluded).
Required Work Experience: 5 Years actuarial experience with successful completion of 5 Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society exams (prerequisites excluded) OR 3 years actuarial experience with Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial society (ACAS) designation.
Required Skills and Abilities: Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, and effectively coordinate. Effective communication skills. Knowledge of actuarial principles, procedures, and regulations. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion. Able to work independently and in a team environment.
Required Software and Tools: Microsoft Office.
