Overview Senior Director, Medical & Scientific Affairs - Acute CareBeckman Coulter Diagnostics is seeking a Senior Director, Medical & Scientific Affairs for the Acute Care disease area. This role is responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction for the disease area and leading daily business operations support related to product development and clinical research, product quality, compliance, commercial/marketing activities and customer interactions. The Senior Director will partner with external partners and professional societies as the medical representative of Beckman Coulter to the market. This disease area is a key focus for Beckman Coulter, offering opportunities to build and grow leadership and impact patient outcomes.Acute Care diagnostics are major areas of focus with tests and markers relevant to sepsis, acute myocardial infarction, infectious disease differentiation, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and related clinical utilities.In this role, you will have the opportunity to:Steer collaborative efforts between business leaders and research teams to define clinical research priorities for product development, regulatory submissions, and marketing, based on intended clinical applications, business, and regulatory strategyIdentify, coach, and develop a team of professionals (field associate director of MSLs and a global associate director)Collaborate with internal stakeholders across matrix organizations, sharing information, achieving collective goals, managing risk/reward/resource discussions, and developing talent within and outside of the MedSci functionEstablish and cultivate strategic academic partners and identify key opinion leaders; translate clinical/scientific insights from KOLs into actionable guidance for product development teamsSupport development and execution of pre-launch product initiatives, commercialization, and lifecycle management of Acute Care products through education, evidence generation, research, and activities such as advisory boards and symposiaPrepare and deliver training on new industry campaigns and clinical evidence; collaborate with marketing to provide clinical input for campaigns and outreachThe essential requirements of the job include:Doctorate level requirement (M.D., Ph.D, Pharm.D, DNP) with a minimum of 20 years of medical & clinical affairs experienceExcellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clinical and business issues to diverse audiencesStrong leadership skills and ability to foster transparency, collaboration, and innovative thinkingStrong problem solving and negotiation skills; ability to influence and make recommendations at multiple levelsMinimum of 5 years of project management experience to establish strategic goals, plan, delegate and evaluate deliverables with a continuous improvement mindsetExtensive clinical experience and knowledge beyond the disease area, including related domainsExperience in clinical research roles in academia, healthcare, life sciences, or medical technologyTravel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:Ability to travel a minimum of 20-25% of the time (domestic and international)It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:10+ years of product and domain knowledge of healthcare technologies and market trends8+ years of experience in medical technology, medical device, or pharmaceutical industry in Medical or Clinical Affairs rolesMBA or Master's degree in a related business fieldExperience leading teams of high performing professionals with a track record of coaching and elevating talentBeckman Coulter Diagnostics, a Danaher operating company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives. This is the range Beckman Coulter Diagnostics believes is the range of possible compensation at the time of posting and may be modified in the future.This job is eligible for bonus/incentive pay.We offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) for eligible employees.Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until earned, vested, and determinable.
