Senior Peoplesoft Database Administrator (Hiring Immediately)

OverviewThe Database Management Services team is a group of highly-technical, highly-competent technologists who support the database software infrastructure necessary to provide academic and administrative computing at Princeton University. The Senior Database Administrator supports the mission of the University by providing a secure, reliable, high-quality, high-performance environment for enterprise class databases. These databases are used by both administrative and academic applications which support the University community.The position also works closely with colleagues in other OIT groups as well as technical staff in University departments to provide expert advice and support of development projects. This position works both on teams and independently, requiring only limited supervision.A remote work arrangement within the United States may be considered for candidates with the appropriate background and experience. This position may require travel to Princeton University approximately 2-3 times per year.ResponsibilitiesPeoplesoft Infrastructure Component SupportInstall, upgrade, monitor and maintain the Peoplesoft infrastructure components (web server, app server (Tuxedo), process schedulers, and integration brokerProvide Peoplesoft application upgrade support, problem resolution and troubleshooting servicesDatabase Application SupportProvide technical support and assistanceProvide consulting support for use of database featuresProvide problem resolution and troubleshooting services for database application related errorsDatabase SupportMonitor and maintain production and non-production database environmentsProvide database backup and recovery servicesProvide database troubleshooting and problem resolutionProvide standards, procedures and guidelines for the effective and secure use of the databases and database featuresCreate and maintain physical database structuresDatabase Software SupportInstallation, upgrade and maintenance of enterprise database software including: Oracle and MS SQL ServerManage vendor interaction for database software related items and ensure license agreement complianceAssist in the overall planning for the future direction of database software in support of the University's mission and goals.Database Security/Access ServicesMonitor and maintain the security of the databases and database software (with other groups)Provide quarterly security patching servicesProvide migration services to oversee changes to the production environmentsDatabase On-Call Services24 hour production problem supportDaily verification of database backups, review and resolution of log and monitoring messagesQualifications7+ years of Oracle DBA experience5+ years of Peoplesoft DBA experience5+ years Peoplesoft Internet Architecture experience (including Weblogic Web server & Tuxedo)Linux experienceOracle Enterprise Manager experienceVery strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams of people possessing varying technology backgroundsStrong customer Service orientationExcellent analytical skillsStrong problem solving skillsAbility to work well under pressureProven ability to work in a team environmentAbility to multi-task with several complex and demanding projectsAbility to express ideas concisely and clearlyAbility to develop and maintain project plansAbility and willingness to learn new technologies and skillsAbility to understand interaction of technologiesAbility to work independently or collaborativelyAbility to develop and maintain documentationProactively share information and ideas with peers, customers and supervisorsExpected to be able to utilize most MS office productsOff hours support is requiredEducation: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology and/or Computer Science or equivalent professional work experience.Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with cloud hosting, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle cloudMicrosoft SQL Server experiencePrevious experience operationally supporting production systems.Princeton University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.The University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, work experience, education/training, key skills, market, collective bargaining agreements as applicable, and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
