Optomi, in partnership with a leading automotive financial services organization, is seeking a Senior Java Engineer for long term contract opportunity in Plano, TX.This is a hands-on backend engineering role supporting high-impact production applications and cloud modernization efforts. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing enhancement.This position is hybrid and requires onsite work in Plano two days per week.What you’ll do:Build, enhance, test, and support scalable Java-based production applications.Design and develop backend services, APIs, and cloud-native solutions.Develop and deploy applications within AWS environments.Use Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure as code.Partner with product, QA, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality releases.Troubleshoot production issues, improve application performance, and contribute to reliable delivery practices.Write maintainable, extensible, tested code and participate in code reviews.Required experience:7+ years of Java development experience within an enterprise production environment.Strong backend Java development experience building production-ready applications.Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Quarkus, or similar Java frameworks.Experience with JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, or related persistence technologies.Hands-on AWS development experience, including services such as Lambda, SQS, and DynamoDB.Hands-on Terraform experience for infrastructure as code.Preferred experience:Kubernetes and microservices deployment or orchestration experience.Docker or containerized application development.Python exposure.Knowledge of secure, performant, and scalable application design.Details:Location: Plano, TX, hybrid two days per weekContract length: Initial six-month engagementWork authorization: Must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card holderInterview process: 30-minute virtual interview followed by a mandatory 60-minute onsite interview
