Security Assistant II VacancyThe Cincinnati Public Schools invites applicants for the position of Security Assistant II. This position reports to the building principal and provides day-to-day support and safety of students. Under direct supervision, assist in maintaining a safe and productive environment for students, staff, and visitors on school properties and at school sponsored events (graduations, conferences, meetings, sporting events, etc.)Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:Associate's Degree or higherHigh School diploma or equivalentThe successful candidate shall have the training, skills and ability necessary to:Must have ability to communicate verbally, work with youth, and maintain discipline in the school setting and on playgrounds with groups of studentsMust also be able to follow oral and written instructionsWork experience with youth groups in multi-ethnic situations preferredResponsibilities of Position:Assist with emergency evacuations and/or shelter in place emergenciesMonitors and supervises a student's common area such as hallways, restrooms, playgrounds, entrance ways, and emergency exitsAssist with pedestrian and vehicle traffic around buildings and property owned by Cincinnati Public SchoolsAssist as directed by school authorities in stopping disturbances in the school and on school groundsAssist visitors by giving directions and needed explanationsReduce or eliminate public access to restricted areas of buildings and property owned or maintained by Cincinnati Public SchoolsNotifies the responsible Cincinnati Public School personnel on matters of concern in direct relation to school safety and building integrityAssist law enforcement officers, fire personnel, and emergency services representatives when necessary in the stabilization of incidents which place students, staff, and visitors at risk of harmAttend training and other meetings as requested by the Office of Safety ServicesComplete and submit daily reports to the Office of Security ServicesPerforms other duties as requiredNote: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.
