JOB TITLE: TEACHER -TITLE IDEPARTMENT: School/Federal Programs and School ImprovementREPORTS TO: PrincipalFLSA STATUS/CLASSIFICATION: Exempt; CertSUPERVISORY DUTIES: Title I AideAPPROVED ON: xx/xx/2014SUMMARY: The job of Title I Teacher was established for the purpose/s of developing students' academic skills through courses of study and implementing district-approved Title I curriculum; addressing specific educational needs of students; providing feedback regarding student progress, expectations, goals, and activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Administers Title One specific assessments and/or tests for the purpose of assessing the level of students' competenciesAdvises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teachers' expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environmentAssesses students' (e.g., progress, expectations, goals, etc.) for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administrationPositively and effectively collaborates with a variety of partiesDirects assistant teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effective Title I school program and addressing the needs of individual studentsEvaluates students' performance within Title I education for the purpose of determining student progress and/or developing remediation plansInstructs students using tier 2 and tier 3 reading interventions to appropriate students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of studyMonitors student activities (e.g., classroom, lunch, campus, sporting events, dances, etc.) for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of studentsMonitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g,. classroom, playground, field trips, sporting events, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environmentParticipates in a variety of events (e.g., book studies, quarterly monitoring sessions, meetings, trainings, workshops, seminars, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform the functionKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writingDemonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject-specific assignments (e.g., phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, etc.) for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual studentsKnowledge of accepted instructional techniques and methods for working with childrenKnowledge of data usage, including research, collection, analysis, synthesis, interpretation, and reportingAbility to perform multiple functions simultaneouslyAbility to do basic mathematical computationsAbility to maintain confidentialityProduce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervisionAbility to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situationsAbility to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community membersKnowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policiesAbility to handle confrontation professionallyQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience:Bachelors DegreeValid Arizona Teacher certificate with Required EndorsementsMeet the federal highly qualified teacher requirementsExperience as a K-3 teacherFingerprint clearanceComputer Proficiency: Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Google Suite.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
