What You Can Expect In This RoleAssist in preparation of federal and state income tax filings and financial reports. Assists with tax research. This position ensures compliance with internal controls and promotes collaboration among accounting team while maintaining strict confidentiality over appropriate information.What You'll Do In This Role Assist in preparation of federal and state income tax filings, including annual and quarterly estimated payments. Identify new or unique items for proper handling in completion of returns. Assist in preparation and analysis of year-end and interim statutory and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) work papers and reports on a timely and accurate basis; review and learn ASC 740 and SSAP101 guidelines and their application. Assist in providing research and analysis for tax reporting and tax planning, including state income tax planning to minimize tax liability; identify and make recommendations for new procedures to improve efficiency of tax reporting. Follow internal controls impacting the tax department to comply with the NAIC Model Audit Rule. Demonstrate collaborative team skills within and outside of Corporate Accounting; work in a positive fashion toward common organization goals.
