Systel Careers – Cable Supervisor – Sugar Land, TXAbout The JobSystel’s recent growth in embedded systems has created a significant increase in cable assembly demand, especially for new products. In order to enhance our prototype development, the company recently started their own internal cable assembly team, which has dramatically aided our cable design refinement and reduced production rework time in time sensitive situations. Systel is looking to grow our internal cables team, but first needs a leader capable of streamlining our new internal cables processes. We are looking for a hands-on leader who is capable of improving cable assembly techniques, streamlining interdepartmental scheduling processes, and growing our team.This role will report to the Production Manager at Systel. This position is full-time onsite (in-person) at our headquarters in Sugar Land, TX.ResponsibilitiesManage and grow cable assembly capacity to support business needsManage assigned personnel and assist the team’s developmentDevelop the internal cable build schedule in conjunction with the master scheduler and cables buyer (who will decide make versus buy decisions largely based on the internal team’s available capacity)Support for urgent cable rework needsOwn on-time delivery performance for internal cable buildsDevelop cable assembly skills to better understand assembly processes Upon occasion, personally build cable prototypes to keep assembly expertise sharp and provide valuable feedback to engineering on new designs Liaison with sustaining engineering, to ensure needed support Coordinate the receipt of cable kits from the warehouse and the return of completed product to the warehouseInvestigate and incorporate industry best practices to improve quality and productivityEscalate key material shortages to purchasingAssist in other areas as the production manager requiresBuild Systel’s can-do culture by exemplifying Systel’s core values of Fanatical Customer Service, Absolute Ownership, Passion for Improvement, and Uncompromising Integrity All work activities shall be conducted in a manner that supports Systel’s Quality Manual, Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, System Level Procedures and Work InstructionsEducation and Experience Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in business or science related fieldAbility to accurately read cable assembly drawingsMinimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, cable assembly experience preferredPreferred Qualifications5+ years of cable assembly experience5+ years of production supervisor experienceMinimum QualificationsAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and drive for continuous improvement.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).Excellent verbal and written communication; capable of building strong internal and external relationships.Highly competitive and self-motivated with the ability to “make it happen”. Time management, decision-making, and organizational skills capable of handling a demanding workload yet meeting positional and company objectives under pressure.
