Experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant

If so, we might be what you’ve been missing. Durango Animal Hospital is a locally owned and AAHA Accredited small animal practice. We have 5 doctors on our team, and we work with local nonprofit organizations to give back to our community in a meaningful way. Our patients range from dogs and cats, to avian, exotic, and pocket pets to the local wildlife. Our local wildlife includes raptors (such as Golden Eagles and Bald Eagles), songbirds (such as Swallows and Robins), turtles and bunnies to name a few. We are hiring for 1 full-time experienced Veterinary Technician or Assistant at our NEW AND UPDATED FACILITY, located at 140 Rock Point Dr., Durango, CO 81301(Located in the Durango Tech Center off Hwy 160). Our typical schedule is working 4 days per week, up to 10 hours per day with alternating Saturdays. Our start time is 7:30 am. Most days, we are walking out of the clinic by 5:45 pm, on Saturdays we are usually done by 1:00 pm. We are closed every Sunday and major holidays. As we share on call responsibilities with 5 other clinics in town, we are only on call 4-5 days per month, which is divided up equally among technicians and assistants. We are looking for someone who has prior anesthesia knowledge with excellent client service skills and a great teamwork mentality. Attention to detail and self-motivation are also required. Typical duties and responsibilities include rooming patients, assisting doctors, monitoring and recovering anesthetized patients, drawing blood, administering vaccines, running of in-house lab work, proper restraining of patients for procedures including digital radiographs and ultrasound, assisting in dental procedures, and providing care to hospitalized patients. Additional responsibilities include re-filling patient's medication under doctor supervision, basic hospital cleaning, data entry, and light scheduling.
