Junior System Administrator
GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Junior System Administrator is tasked with supporting the IT Operations for core business applications and processes effectively and efficiently. Conducts technical troubleshooting and diagnosis to determine the root cause of incidents and implement solutions in production environments. Performs the steps necessary to successfully manage events, including the application of workarounds, permanent solutions, and avoiding incidents that disrupt IT Services.Regular ExemptESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSIdentify, analyze, and resolve incidents following established triage and escalation procedures, ensuring that all issues are properly documented with findings, actions taken, and impact assessment prior to escalation, in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).Ensure accurate and timely creation, update, and closure of incident and service request tickets, maintaining complete documentation, evidence, and traceability in accordance with IT Operations and audit requirements.Execute, monitor, and validate batch, manual, automated, on-demand operational processes, including file transfers.Execute and support approved system changes in production environments following change management procedures and approved runbooks.Monitor and verify server backup routines to ensure data integrity, availability, and recoverability.Complete reports related to the processes and monitoring of the production environments.Escalate issues as necessary and deliver reports to the management team on corrective measures applied to service issues.Perform continuous system and alarm monitoring to proactively identify service degradation using predefined actions.Support system-related projects and initiatives, and recommend improvements to optimize processes, tools, and overall efficiency in the production environment.Follow and maintain standard operating procedures and operational runbooks for production systems.Execute and support compliance with operational audit controls and organizational standards.ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONSMust comply fully and consistently with all company policies and procedures, with local and federal laws as well as with the regulations applicable to our Industry, to maintain appropriate business and employment practices.May carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned, according to the requirements of education and experience contained in this document.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. At least two (2) years of related experience as an Operation Technician, or any related role. Experience with office productivity, reporting, and technical documentation software. Experience with backup solutions, monitoring, and event management tools. Knowledge of AS400 systems, commands, scheduled tasks, and enterprise job schedulers.Proven experience may be replaced by previously established requirements.Certifications / Licenses: At least one of the following certifications is preferred: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA).Other: This position requires the availability to work night shifts and to be on-call on a rotation schedule.
