SALARYThe minimum salary is $27.016 per hourThis position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.Pay Grade 520FILING DEADLINE DATEThe deadline to apply is Monday June 1, 2026GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe purpose of this classification is to manage and oversee recreation activities and personnel for a single large program area.This position is responsible for the aquatics section of Parks and Recreation, which includes the oversight of operations for six (6) city pools and the hiring of 300 seasonal positions annually.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in a field related to the jobFour (4) years of related experience, one (1) year of which must have been at a management or supervisory levelAdditional years of related experience may substitute for years of educationAdditional years of related education may substitute for years of experienceThere are no substitutes for the required supervisory/management experienceESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDevelops, coordinates, manages, and promotes the activities and events associated with a major program area such as therapeutic recreation, arts, equestrian, fitness and wellness, athletics and community engagementInterviews, hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates staff and/or contractorsManages and oversees facilities and other resources for program areaPerforms administrative duties related to goals, objectives and performance including but not limited to budgeting, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll, data entry, reporting, and grant writingCoordinates, schedules, and conducts fitness test for participants and teach classes, as neededRepresents LFUCG, the division and/or their program at various internal and external meetings and public functions and eventsCreates standards, educational materials, newsletters, and other publicity materials for the programs, as neededPerforms related work as assignedSPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONAll certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.* Valid driver's license* First Aid and CPR/AED Certification must be obtained within first six (6) months of employmentSPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to work flexible hours and/or weekends, holidays, perform on-call duty, and split shifts when required.All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.This position within the Divisions of Parks and Recreation requires a Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) check before employment.HOW TO APPLYSubmit LFUCG electronic application through lexingtonky.gov/jobs and attach/upload applicable documents to verify your education, training, certification/license(s), or DD214 (for military preference with appropriate discharge) by filing deadline date.RESUMES CANNOT BE SUBSTITUTED FOR THE APPLICATION, but are highly encouraged to be attached/uploaded to the application.Please note that the section titled "Application Questionnaire" has to be completed every time a new or revised application is submitted.
