Material HandlerThe Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the facility, including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods, while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting production operations. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth facility operations and ensuring materials are available when needed.Key Responsibilities:Operate various types of material handling equipment, primarily forklifts (stand-up and sit-down), safely and efficientlyPerform daily safety inspections of lift equipment and complete required documentationLoad and unload trucks according to shipping and receiving schedulesStore and retrieve pallets within the plant, documenting inventory locations using handheld electronic devicesStage materials at equipment locations according to production schedulesMove and manage Work-in-Process (WIP) pallets between machine locations and rack storageMaintain organized storage areas and implement proper rack numbering systemsPerform inventory cycle counts and maintain accurate recordsComplete all required safety documentation, checklists, and logsMaintain cleanliness standards through 5S practices, including removal of empty pallets and waste managementWork in a safe manner.Participate actively in Printpack's Continuous Improvement ProgramOther duties as assignedEducation & Experience:High School diploma or equivalent preferredExperience in manufacturing or warehousing environment a plusRequired Skills:Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain forklift certification)Basic computer literacyAbility to read and understand production schedulesMathematical skills for inventory countingKnowledge of warehouse management systemsUnderstanding of safety protocolsAbility to read and follow written instructionsBasic problem-solving skillsTeam-oriented mindsetTime management abilitiesAdditional Requirements:Must be 18 years of ageMust pass pre-employment assessmentDrug screening requiredBackground check requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Warehouse safety proceduresMaterial handling equipment operationQuality control standardsBasic manufacturing processesOSHA regulationsForklift operation (stand-up and sit-down)Inventory trackingDocumentation completionBasic computer operationHand-held scanner operationSafe lifting techniquesTime managementCommunicationWork independently and as part of a teamMaintain focus in a fast-paced environmentPhysical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:Must be able to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 poundsStanding/walking for extended periods (8-12 hour shifts)Frequent bending, twisting, and reachingProficiency in grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor skillsWork in various temperature conditionsExposure to normal warehouse environmentGood Eye and Hand coordinationRegular exposure to moving machineryUse of ladders and other equipmentForklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jack certificationAbility to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)Travel Requirements: Travel is not required in this position.Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:Noise levels above 85 dBOperation of complex machinerySolvents, fumes and inksVariable TemperaturesMust be able to work flexible shiftsMay require nights, weekends, and holidays.An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (6pm to 6am).Additional Internal Requirements:Must display core valuesLast performance review rated "Performer" or higherNo disciplinary actions beyond verbal warning within past 120 daysPrintpack is proudly an equal-opportunity employer.
