Job duties and requirements include, but are not limited to:- Feeding and watering turkeys- Monitoring flock health and behavior- Cleaning and disinfecting barns, equipment, and vehicles- Loading and unloading turkeys for transport- Assisting with vaccinations and other flock management tasks- Performing routine farm maintenance (repairs, groundskeeping, etc)- Handling dead bird removal and mortality composting- Recording data related to animal care and production- Walking the barns 2-3 times per day- Monitoring ventilation in barns throughout the day (will train)- Must be willing to work in dusty, noisy, and warm or cold environments- Must follow strict biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines- Must not own or have contact with other birds or poultry during employment- Previous turkey farming experience strongly desired, but willing to train the right candidate Additional Requirements: This is a turkey farm located in rural NW Minnesota. I have a total of 2 barns - one brooder barn and one finisher barn. I raise a total of 4 flocks in one season, with 30,500 turkeys in each flock. The season starts in late January and ends early November each year. Hours will vary week to week, but you will be guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours. These hours will include some evenings and some weekends.Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers' expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.
