OverviewABOUT THE POSITIONTransportation EngineerVHB is growing and we have an opening for an experienced Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation Design team. VHB's transportation team in Worcester, MA, is recognized for its involvement in planning, engineering, and consulting services related to transportation infrastructure. They focus on improving mobility, safety, and connectivity within the region, collaborating on various projects with public and private sector clients and are experienced in Regional Transit Planning, Traffic Engineering and Analysis and Infrastructure Design.ResponsibilitiesDuties include highway engineering, stormwater management and drainage design, cost estimating, and report writing.Conceptual and final design of roadway, highway, and multi-modal engineering solutions for a variety of transportation-related projects including development of geometric horizontal and vertical layout, grading and drainage design, and utilities layoutPreparation and review of roadway design criteria, calculations, drawings, estimates, and specificationsDevelopment of 3D modeling for conceptual roadway alignmentsTemporary traffic control developmentConstructability development and reviewTypical section development and pavement designPreparation of right-of-way and easement plansSkills & AbilitiesExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsComfortable working independently as well as part of a teamAbility to work effectively in both in-office and virtual environmentsAbility to balance concurrent projectsDetail oriented, self-motived, and committedStrong computer skillsCritical thinking and problem solvingQualificationsBS in Civil Engineering required, MS a plus3-5 years of transportation engineering experience requiredEIT preferredDemonstratable AutoCAD / Civil3D experience requiredInfraworks or SketchUp experience a plusFamiliarity with MassDOT project development a plusOur best estimate of the salary range for this position is $85,000-115,000.
