Material Sciences Corporation (MSC) is an award-winning provider of metal solutions for a wide array of markets, including: automotive, consumer goods and construction. Our state-of-the-art Walbridge, Ohio facility has an immediate opening for a full-time *Process *
*Control Utility *to join our team. This position requires an experienced candidate that can perform the functions of the positions in the Quality Assurance and Process Control departments – Inspector, QA Technician, E.G. Lab Technician, Treatment Operator, and PCC Operator.
*Key Responsibilities*
· Follow established procedures, testing methods, and regulatory requirements with guidance and training as needed.
· Maintain accurate records, logs, and electronic documentation.
· Communicate test results, inspection findings, deviations, and concerns to supervisors and production personnel in a timely and professional manner.
· Follow daily safety, environmental, and quality practices.
· Assist with equipment maintenance, verification, and calibration activities as needed.
· Participate in troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.
· Provide support during audits, inspections, and other compliance-related activities.
· Help keep assigned work areas clean, organized, and ready for use.
· Support training activities for other personnel once fully qualified and when appropriate.
*Functional Responsibilities*
*Laboratory Technician*
· Perform routine laboratory testing on raw materials and finished products.
· Record and share analytical results accurately and clearly.
· Assist with the care, upkeep, and routine calibration of laboratory instruments.
· Support laboratory quality practices and required documentation.
*Final Product Inspector*
· Inspect finished products to help confirm they meet quality specifications and customer requirements.
· Complete visual inspections and dimensional or physical testing as required.
· Document inspection results and help identify materials that may require review or follow-up.
· Collaborate with production personnel to help address quality questions or concerns.
· Maintain inspection records and reports so information is clear, accurate, and easy to reference.
*Training and Cross-Training Expectations*
This role offers the opportunity to learn multiple areas within the department through structured training, hands-on experience, and support from qualified team members.
*Qualifications*
· High school diploma, GED, is required.
· Experience in laboratory testing, inspection, or manufacturing quality is helpful but not required.
· Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate documentation with training and support.
· Effective communication skills and a willingness to ask questions, share updates, and work with others.
· Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting, or a willingness to learn the required systems.
· Attention to detail and an interest in learning how to identify and help resolve problems.
· Willingness and ability to rotate shifts to support department coverage needs.
*Work Environment & Physical Requirements*
· Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and will be provided.
· This role involves standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting materials up to 40 lbs., and working safely around industrial equipment.
· Work may include exposure to chemicals and manufacturing processes; appropriate PPE and training will be supplied.
