Job Title: Microwave field engineerLocation: Phoenix AZKey ResponsibilitiesInstallation & CommissioningPerform end-to-end installation and commissioning of Nokia microwave radio systems, including indoor units (IDU), outdoor units (ODU), antennas, waveguides, and associated cabling.Execute site integration activities in accordance with Nokia standards, engineering drawings, and project documentation.Perform antenna alignment, link verification, and acceptance testing to meet designed KPIs.Software Upgrade & ConfigurationConduct software upgrades, patches, and feature activations on Nokia microwave systems as per approved methods of procedure (MOPs).Configure microwave links, frequencies, modulation schemes, protection switching, and Ethernet/IP parameters.Ensure proper backup, rollback, and documentation during upgrade activities.Troubleshooting & MaintenanceDiagnose and resolve hardware, software, and RF-related issues impacting microwave link performance.Perform fault isolation using alarms, logs, and performance metrics.Support corrective and preventive maintenance activities to minimize network downtime.Testing & OptimizationPerform link performance testing including throughput, latency, BER, and availability validation.Optimize microwave links to improve capacity, stability, and overall network performance.Support acceptance testing with customers and provide sign-off documentation.Documentation & ReportingComplete site documentation, installation checklists, as-built drawings, and test reports.Update trouble tickets, maintenance logs, and project trackers accurately and on time.Communicate progress, risks, and issues clearly to project managers and NOC teams.Required Qualifications• Nokia Microwave Certification (mandatory).• Proven hands-on experience with Nokia microwave systems (installation, commissioning, upgrades, and troubleshooting).• Strong understanding of microwave RF principles, link budgets, and antenna alignment.• Experience working on live networks with minimal service impact.• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and MOPs.• Proficiency in using laptops, test tools, and standard telecom software.• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.Preferred Qualifications• Experience with Nokia Wavence or equivalent Nokia microwave platforms.• Prior experience supporting Tier 1 wireless carriers or large telecom projects.• Familiarity with Ethernet/IP transport over microwave networks.• OSHA, RF Safety, or tower safety certifications (preferred).Skills & Competencies• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills• Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy• Ability to work independently in field environments• Strong communication and coordination skills• Customer-focused and quality-driven mindset
