General Superintendent Water Distribution
The General Superintendent provides leadership and operational oversight for multiple water distribution maintenance facilities, ensuring effective supervision of staff, alignment with organizational goals, and the safe, reliable operation of the water distribution system. Oversees supervisors and multiple distribution crews across maintenance facilities. Evaluates daily operations, resource allocation, and emergency response. Ensures compliance with hydraulic testing, water quality procedures, and regulatory requirements. Reviews work plans, schedules, technical documents, and progress reports. Develops reports on operations, budgets, materials, and labor utilization. Supports staff development, hiring, and succession planning. Ensures adherence to safety standards including OSHA, VDOT, and Trench & Excavation requirements. Collaborates with internal departments, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Leads or assists with major distribution projects and strategic initiatives. High school diploma or GED required; advanced technical training preferred. Minimum 10 years of experience in water distribution, or a combination of water distribution, wastewater collection, and water utility construction. Must include at least 5 years of supervisory experience. Knowledge of water distribution system operations, hydraulics, and regulations. Experience with GIS, job work order systems, and technical drawings. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Ability to analyze data and prepare clear operational reports.
