Maintenance Mechanic - Electrical (2nd Shift)

Job Description Primary Purpose: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep of buildings and mechanical systems, such as heating, cooling and refrigeration systems. Maintenance mechanics are expected to perform emergency electrical and mechanical repairs, which necessitates the ability read electrical schematics and troubleshoot/diagnose both electrical and mechanical issues. Maintenance mechanics work with production machines, such as Multivac, Weber, Provisur, PFM, Copeland, ferrite, Carlyle, Hayssen, AEC Chillers, Triangle, Multipond and Yamato. This position will also work on various computer-based programs such as Allen Bradley Panel view and micro logic programming, Allen Bradley, Sew and other different motor control drives. Responsibilities:Install conduit, pipes or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits;Works from ladders, scaffolds or roof to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures;Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment;Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus or fixtures using hand tools or power tools;Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components;Maintain current electrician's license;Direct or train workers to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures;Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices;Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem;Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes;Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors;Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous;Provide preliminary sketches or cost estimates for materials or service;Perform general maintenance tasks within the plant, including equipment repair, pneumatics, pump and motor repair, advanced mechanics, waste water controls, computerized operating systems (PLCS), HVAC and boiler systemsRespond to maintenance calls and needs within all areas of the plantObserve, diagnose, service, and repair equipment effectively and efficientlyComplete preventative maintenance tasks per the established scheduleActively work to minimize downtime and keep production runningTroubleshoot problems that occur and determine root cause solutionsSupport the installation of new equipment and other maintenance tasks related projects as neededComplete paperwork, documentation and checklists in a thorough, accurate and legible mannerComply with all applicable safety, food safety and GMP policiesInspecting, diagnosing problems and repairing refrigeration systems as needed.Performing leak checks and system charging. Education, Qualities and Skills Required:3-5 years' maintenance experienceFood industry experience preferredDemonstrates a strong sense of urgencyStrong background in refrigeration systems – HVAC experienceAbility to use computer-based maintenance PM and Parts programMust have own toolsKnowledge PLC software strongly preferredAble to prioritize multiple demandsAble to remain calm under pressureAble to troubleshoot effectivelyFocus on root cause determination and solutionEffectively able to communicate with all levels of the organizationSelf-motivated with a strong work ethicAble to work effectively independently, as well as with a teamSafety consciousBilingual in Spanish is a plusUnderstands and abides by GMP's and food safety guidelinesThis position supports a 24/7 operation, must be willing to work holidays, additional shifts and weekends when needed Supervisory Responsibility:No direct supervision required. Work Environment:Work occurs in all areas of the plant and in varying temperatures from -15-100 degrees. Must be able to stand/walk continuously throughout the shift, lift up to 50 lbs and bend, squat, crouch, twist, push/pull, grip, grasp, etc. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time, hourly position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Expectation is to work the hours scheduled by the maintenance manager, and gain approval from the manager before working hours outside of that schedule. Physical Requirements:The physical requirements of this position include:Frequent standing and walking requiredLift up to 50 lbs. occasionallyWalk long distances, sometimes on wet, uneven and slippery surfacesClimbing or moving on steps, stairwells, walkways and platformsCarrying, lifting, lowering, pushing and pulling of heavy and or awkward objects or loads. Lifting and lowering of objects up to 50 lbs.. Pushing or pulling heavy roller carts, bins or transport containersFrequent static and/or awkward work postures with neck and spine flexion while grasping, pinching, pulling, lifting, extending, flexing the hands and arms to perform tasks. A variety of arm and hand movements are required in applying force, movement and repetition.Using and maintaining a variety of knives, hand tools, powered tools and equipment, electrical devices, controls and motorized vehicles.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction from supervisors and designated staff.This role will be often exposed to temperatures between 33-50 degrees Fahrenheit.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Compensation and Benefits:The budgeted salary range for this position is $28-$33 per hour.
