Instructor in Medicine/Assistant Professor of Medicine at the CUMC

The Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) invites applications for a clinical faculty position with expertise and interest in medical education, general infectious diseases, HIV, and inpatient as well as outpatient clinical care. Candidates should have strong clinical and teaching qualifications. Responsibilities will include direct patient care (both inpatient and outpatient), the supervision and teaching of housestaff (residents and fellows) and medical students and active participation in Division and Departmental activities.
The attending will have opportunity to work with housestaff and medical students on the inpatient medicine service focused on delivering care for individuals living with HIV who experience substantial barriers to care, patients with infectious complications of substance use, general medicine patients, and patients with complex multidrug resistant bacterial infections, tuberculosis etc. The faculty member will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of care coordinators to participate in quality initiative, and to identify and help address barriers to care and facilitate linkage to outpatient services. Faculty will also work as a member of a vibrant multidisciplinary team providing integrated HIV, status neutral and primary care as well as HCV care in the outpatient comprehensive health program.

Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to clinical medicine, teaching, and scholarly pursuits. Minimum Qualifications: M.D. or equivalent medical professional degree. Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in internal medicine and infectious diseases and must be eligible to practice in the State of New York.
Preferred Qualifications: Training and or experience in one of the areas of focus, including HIV treatment and preventive care, transplant infectious diseases, prevention of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial stewardship.
