Production WorkerThis role supports the final staging process in a mattress production facility. You will work closely with the shipping team to correctly stage mattress units, verify product details, and prepare items for shipment. The position involves consistent physical activity, teamwork on an assembly line, and adherence to detailed instructions to ensure products are accurately staged and shipped on time.ResponsibilitiesAssist with the staging process as the final step in the production workflow, ensuring mattress units are correctly prepared for shipment.Work alongside the shipping team to place mattress units on carts and stage them according to supervisor instructions and written directions.Lift and move mattress components weighing approximately 4050 pounds throughout the shift, often with a teammate.Flip mattress units overhead when placing them onto the assembly line in designated positions.Read and follow written directions in English to ensure correct staging procedures.Read and interpret specific codes on mattress law tags to confirm the correct topper is placed on the corresponding mattress bottom.Maintain pace with the production and assembly line to help the team meet efficiency and output goals.Collaborate closely with a designated partner and broader assembly team, supporting a strong team-based production environment.Stand, bend, twist, squat, and lift continuously throughout the shift while following safe work practices.Inspect mattress units and materials for accuracy and obvious defects during staging and handling.Follow all safety guidelines, including use of required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and orderly work area.Work a first-shift schedule, typically Monday through Friday, usually from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to work extended shifts of 1012 hours and occasional Saturdays as needed.Essential SkillsExperience working on a production or assembly line, preferably as part of a team environment that relies on each member to maintain pace and build units efficiently.Ability to lift 4050 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift, often in coordination with a teammate.Capability to stand on your feet and perform frequent bending, twisting, squatting, and lifting for the entire duration of the shift.Ability to read and understand directions in English.Ability to read and interpret specific codes on law tags to ensure correct matching of mattress components.Demonstrated team-oriented mindset and proactive, go-getter attitude, with the ability to work effectively with a partner.At least one year of tenure in the most recent position, or a strong and explainable reason for leaving.Comfort working in a general labor or general production environment, including lifting materials and performing basic inspection tasks.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious experience in mattress manufacturing, staging, or shipping environments is beneficial.Prior experience in unionized production facilities is an advantage.Strong attention to detail when matching product codes and components.Reliability and consistency in attendance and punctuality.Willingness to work occasional extended shifts of 1012 hours and some Saturdays with advance notice.Comfort working in environments that are not climate controlled, including warmer summer conditions and cooler winter conditions.Why Work Here?The company offers a stable, long-standing work environment with a strong sense of tradition and continuity. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically Monday through Friday, usually from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the possibility of working 1012 hour days as production needs arise. Occasional Saturday work may be required, with notice provided by midweek. The dress code includes long pants, tennis shoes, and a T-shirt, with safety glasses provided by the company. The facility emphasizes safety and teamwork, with employees working closely in pairs and as part of larger assembly and staging teams.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Romulus, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.35 - $17.35/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
