Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support an established portfolio of industrial products through engineering changes, product maintenance, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement initiatives.This role is focused primarily on sustaining engineering and product support, working with existing products throughout their lifecycle rather than developing entirely new product platforms. The engineer will be responsible for updating designs, maintaining engineering documentation, managing product releases, supporting manufacturing operations, and driving ongoing product improvements.The ideal candidate has strong mechanical design experience, hands-on CAD expertise, and a thorough understanding of engineering change processes, BOM management, and production support activities.Key Responsibilities:Sustaining Engineering & Product SupportSupport existing production products throughout their lifecycle.Revise and maintain engineering drawings and product documentation.Update dimensions, materials, features, tolerances, and specifications.Modify existing parts, components, and assemblies.Support engineering change implementation and product improvements.Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions.Engineering Change ManagementCreate and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).Support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).Manage design revisions and release documentation.Ensure compliance with revision control and configuration management processes.Coordinate engineering changes with manufacturing and operations teams.CAD Design & DocumentationCreate, revise, and maintain 3D models and engineering drawings.Develop assembly and disassembly documentation.Generate technical support documentation and troubleshooting materials.Maintain accurate engineering records and product data.BOM & Product Lifecycle ManagementCreate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).Manage product structures and release activities.Support product lifecycle and engineering release processes.Maintain engineering documentation within PLM systems.Manufacturing SupportPartner with production and operations teams to resolve engineering issues.Support product rework activities and design corrections.Evaluate manufacturability and recommend design improvements.Assist with implementation of engineering changes on the production floor.Product Testing & ValidationSupport testing and validation efforts for existing products.Gather and analyze technical data.Document results and support engineering recommendations.Participate in product investigations and performance evaluations.Required Qualifications:EducationBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.Experience5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:Mechanical Design EngineeringProduct EngineeringSustaining EngineeringProduct Development EngineeringManufacturing Engineering with significant design responsibilitiesExperience supporting products through the full product lifecycle.Experience working independently with minimal supervision.Experience managing multiple engineering projects and priorities simultaneously.Technical QualificationsStrong CAD design experience.Experience creating and revising engineering drawings.GD&T expertise.BOM creation and maintenance.Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).Product release and revision control processes.Mechanical design and manufacturing fundamentals.Preferred QualificationsCAD SystemsPreferred:Siemens NX (Unigraphics)Also Considered:SolidWorkPLM SystemsPreferred:TeamcenterNote:Teamcenter experience is beneficial but not required.Candidates with general PLM, product release, or engineering lifecycle management experience can be trained on Teamcenter.
