Geotechnical Engineer

Palmerton & Parrish, Inc. (PPI) is seeking a positive, highly motivated individual to join our Springfield, MO headquarters. This position will be responsible for conducting and managing geotechnical investigations, conducting field investigations, and writing geotechnical reports. The candidate is expected to be an excellent communicator and have the ability to both work independently and within a team environment.  A PPI Geotechnical Engineer performs fieldwork and office work for geotechnical subsurface investigation programs in collaboration with other PPI staff. Primary Duties/Responsibilities-Conduct field investigations and fieldwork troubleshooting, as necessaryField logging of geotechnical test boringsPier inspectionsField observation at construction sites – including, but not limited to, inspection and testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt pavements-Manage geotechnical project activities, including field operations and laboratory assignments-Evaluate and interpret subsurface field and sampling data including soil and groundwater to develop conclusions concerning the environmental and geologic site conditions-Generate subsurface maps and cross-sections and collaborate with engineering and other staff on projects-Analyze and interpret geological and geophysical information from sources such as survey data, well logs, bore holes, outcrop, and aerial photos-Oversee field monitoring and testing of soils including boring investigations and soil type classification-Interpret soil, bedrock and groundwater elevation and quality data-Prepare written plans and reports related to site investigations, assessments and remediation activities-Develop and maintain positive business relationships with clients, government officials, contractors, etc.-Prepare geotechnical proposals based on the client needs-Utilize resources efficiently, manage project budgets; invoice clients appropriately-Collaborate with engineering and other staff on projects-Travel to job sites, both locally and out of town, as needed Basic QualificationsBachelors degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Geology, Geophysics, or similar field1 years of work experience in engineering or construction related field, preferredEligible to take PE exam upon aquiring required experience, preferredA valid driver’s license, with clean driving recordStrong verbal and written communication skills Positive work attitudeAbility to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasksAbility to physically maneuver construction sites, excavations, and uneven terrain, in all seasons Benefits for Full-Time PPI EmployeesThe salary for Geotechnical Engineer is commensurate with experience. PPI offers a comprehensive benefit package, including a Company culture that supports a healthy work-life balance.
