Position Title: Assistant Football Coach
Reports To: Head Coach/Director of AthleticsSupervises: StudentsSeason: Fall
Position Summary
The assistant coach supports the head coach in running the athletic program in line with school district policies and IHSA regulations. They help implement training, practices, and game plans while mentoring student-athletes in teamwork, sportsmanship, and development. Responsibilities include ensuring eligibility compliance, assisting with recruitment, and maintaining clear communication. The role also involves supporting administrative tasks, upholding school policies, and serving as a positive role model.
Qualifications
Professional Educator License, Educator License with Stipulations for Paraprofessional ELS (PARA), Substitute (SUB license must be registered in Lake County), or NFHS certification
Previous experience preferred, but not required
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Strong work ethic and organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work positively and productively with adults and student participants
Expected Student Contact Beyond Teaching Contract
Practice and Games 6 days per week.
Expected Weekend and Holiday Competitions/Performances/Events/Travel
Varies by Sport.
