Construction Estimator
Job DescriptionSUMMARY: Prepare ROM budgets and estimates for lump sum, guaranteed maximum price and design build proposals.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Review bid specifications and drawings to evaluate the bidding requirements andassist in bid strategy development. Coordinate the bid submission including organizing all required forms, as required to compile a responsive bid. Create the sub list for estimator assistant to send invites. Manage subcontractor job walks. Prepare quantity takeoffs. Prepare detailed scope of work for the various trades as needed. Prepare and answer all RFI requests. Prepare accurate proposal letter with required inclusions and exclusions. Prepare rough timeline schedule when required. Work on multiple projects simultaneously. Quickly and efficiently develop hard bids that include analysis of subcontractor quotations. Upon successful award of project, complete a complete project review with project manager. Assist the field operations staff with project coordination involving the estimate. Travel locally as needed to attend pre-bid meetings and site visits. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE: Estimating experience for a General Contractor or sub contractor. Knowledge of estimating techniques. Experience analyzing subcontractor quotations quickly and efficiently. Construction knowledge of all trades. Communication skills, both written and oral, and good organizational skills. Computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Project and Outlook. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time. Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Work well in a team environment. QUALIFICATIONS: Communicate effectively over the phone with clients and other departments. Professional personal presentation. Work with a diverse population. Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Read and interpret blueprints and specifications. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, orschedule form. Excellent attention to detail. Stress tolerance. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Stand for brief periods of time. Sit or stand throughout shift. Use hands to type or handle documents. Reach with hands and arms periodically. Stoop, kneel, or crouch periodically. Must be able to communicate orally and hear to assist clients and co-workers. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds periodically. Must have the ability to review written documents and read information on the computer.
