Substitute School Food Service WorkerLocation: Reading Community City Schools / Reading, OHEmployment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-CallPay Rate: $14.00/HourPay increase for long-term substitutes based on positionAbout the RoleDedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable and hardworking Substitute Food Service Workers to support school nutrition teams when regular staff are absent. This role helps ensure students receive healthy, safe, and timely meals each day. Substitute workers assist with food preparation, serving, kitchen operations, and maintaining a clean, welcoming cafeteria environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with preparing and portioning food according to established menus and guidelinesServe meals to students in a friendly, efficient mannerOperate kitchen equipment safely and follow all food-handling proceduresMaintain cleanliness of kitchen, serving areas, and cafeteria spacesWash dishes, utensils, and equipment as neededSet up and break down serving lines and food stationsFollow all safety, sanitation, and district nutrition policiesAssist with inventory, storage, and organization of food and suppliesWork collaboratively with kitchen staff and school personnelProvide excellent customer service to students and staffRequired QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or olderClean criminal background checksAbility to follow directions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentBasic understanding of food safety and sanitation practicesAbility to lift, carry, or move items as requiredDependability, punctuality, and strong work ethicAdherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio EducatorsPreferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentPrevious experience in food service, cafeteria work, or customer serviceKnowledge of safe food-handling proceduresAbility to operate standard kitchen equipmentWhat We OfferFlexible schedulingOpportunities to gain experience in school nutrition servicesPotential pathways to other school-based rolesPotential for long-term substitute opportunitiesOptions for minor medical benefitsEnrollment in School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
