Human Resources Generalist

Position Title: Human Resources Generalist Location: Mission: Ignite Powered by Computers for Children Reports To: Operations Director Position Type: Full-time, 40 hours/week Mission: To spark learning and unlock potential among high-need populations and those that serve them. Position Summary: This position leads human resources at Mission: Ignite, including the HR elements of its AmeriCorps program. The work ensures the organization complies with federal, state, and local requirements, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities: Recruitment and Selection: Create outreach strategies to attract candidates. Support recruitment of candidates, including AmeriCorps members for partners. Create and advertise job, volunteer, and service opportunities (i.e., Indeed). Screen, interview, and onboard candidates. Compliance: Represent the HR function by counseling, answering, and educating employees and managers on policies, procedures, and workplace concerns to identify and implement appropriate steps for resolution; field complaints and issues, escalating to the supervisor as necessary. Construct offer letters, job descriptions, and AmeriCorps member contracts. Deliver, organize, file, and retrieve HR-related documents (i.e., payroll, contracts, etc.). Run payroll and review timesheets weekly, ensuring signatures and accuracy. Establish and configure Microsoft Outlook & Teams accounts for team members. Ensure performance reviews occur organization-wide, including mid-term and at the end of a term or year. Be current on all government guidance and regulations, including AmeriCorps and labor laws. Employee Engagement: Coordinate employee, volunteer, and AmeriCorps member onboarding and orientation; lead the human resource portions of the organization’s orientation program. Train on workplace safety, sexual harassment, conflict of interest, and other topics, as mandated or beneficial, including the Board of Directors. Plan and coordinate AmeriCorps service days, conference trips, and team-building events with the AmeriCorps Manager. Provide recommendations and implement employee and team member retention practices. Office Administration: Manage the office, including collecting and distributing mail and ensuring the delivery of orders. Order and distribute office supplies. Supervise and maintain office contracts (e.g., cleaners, copiers). Other duties as assigned. Desired Traits: Detail-oriented and organized Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Suite (e.g., Teams, Word, PowerPoint), video conferencing, government portals and databases, and many human-resource platforms Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people: passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed Experience with DEI, workplace safety, and sexual harassment training and knowledge A willingness to learn Be mission-driven and adaptable Qualifications: Preferred Education: College-level education or related educational experience is preferred to support the job skills. Preferred Experience: Two years of experience in human resources, focusing on compliance related to government programs.
