Security Engineer - Identity & Security Operations (100% remote)Optomi, in partnership with a company in the financial services space, is looking to add a Security Engineer over Identity & Security Operations. The candidate hired for this role will start with an Okta migration and eventually move into other projects, partnering with another security architect to help mature a security program.The Security Engineer role is ideal for someone who combines strong identity engineering experience, especially around IAM platform implementation and migration, with the flexibility to support broader security operations and engineering initiatives.The immediate priority for this hire is to help lead and support the transition of identity-related operational work to a service-oriented support model. This includes hands-on engineering, troubleshooting, process improvement, and knowledge transfer to internal support teams. Over time, this person will have the opportunity to contribute across other security domains, including incident response, control improvement, and security engineering projects.This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys dynamic environments, can work independently, communicates well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and wants to make a visible impact inside a growing organization.What You’ll DoSupport the engineering, configuration, enhancement, and transition of enterprise identity and access management capabilitiesPartner closely with senior security engineering leadership to help drive a responsible migration of identity-related support processesTranslate technical identity workflows into repeatable support processes for downstream operational teamsTrain and enable internal support teams to successfully take on day-to-day identity-related operational responsibilitiesAssist with user lifecycle and access-related processes in a growing, acquisition-driven environmentContribute to security operations efforts as needed, including incident investigation support, documentation, and root cause analysisHelp evaluate and improve security controls across infrastructure, identity, endpoint, and broader enterprise environmentsWork cross-functionally with technology, infrastructure, and support teams to improve operational maturity and reduce single points of failureDocument processes, decisions, and technical recommendations clearly for both operational and leadership audiencesWhat We’re Looking For3–7 years of experience in information security, identity engineering, security engineering, systems engineering, or a closely related areaHands-on experience with Okta engineering, implementation, migration, integration, or administration at an enterprise levelExperience supporting or leading IAM-related transitions, handoffs, or operational enablement across teamsStrong understanding of user lifecycle management, authentication, access provisioning, and identity-related workflowsAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly and patiently to teams with varying levels of technical depthExperience working in hybrid environments that include both cloud and on-prem infrastructureStrong troubleshooting skills and the ability to operate independently in fast-changing environmentsExperience supporting or participating in incident response, especially deeper investigations, root cause analysis, and impact assessmentStrong written documentation and verbal communication skillsSelf-starter mentality with a high level of ownership, initiative, and follow-throughPreferred QualificationsExperience with identity architecture or solution design, even if you have not held a formal architect titleExperience partnering with service desk, infrastructure, or operations teams to transition support responsibilitiesExposure to endpoint management, phishing-resistant authentication, or device-based access controlsExperience working in highly regulated or complex enterprise environmentsFamiliarity with vulnerability management, security operations, or broader defensive security functionsScripting or automation experience using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or BashExposure to evaluating emerging technologies and related security controlsWhat Success Looks LikeIn the first few months, this person will:ramp quickly with the existing security engineering teamtake meaningful ownership of identity-related engineering and support transition workhelp reduce dependency on key internal SMEsimprove confidence and capability within internal support teamscreate a smoother path for the security team to focus on higher-value engineering and strategic initiativesThis role is well suited for someone who has worked in:a lean security teama fast-growing companyan acquisition-heavy environmenta role where they had to balance engineering depth with operational flexibility
