Vineyard's small team is growing rapidly! Principal DutiesDutiesThe Planner fills a crucial and important role in the Community Development and other City departments and provides excellent customer service. Duties may include but are not limited to:Interpret and apply development ordinances, policies, and state regulations in reviewing development applications and responding to public inquiries.Manage various professional planning functions, including coordinating planning projects, conducting research, and overseeing project development to ensure timely completion.Assist in the preparation of planning studies, policies, ordinances, and long-range Provide zoning, land-use, and code information to stakeholders, including developers, property owners, contractors, and the general public.Oversee the Planning Commission and assist with the management of related Provide support and possible supervision of Planner(s), Planning Technician, and Neighborhood Services Coordinator.Process development project applications and assist applicants through the application Prepare staff reports and presentations for City Council, Planning Commission, and other boards and commissions.Coordinate with elected and appointed officials on planning and development Conduct field inspections and site visits asAttend meetings, many of which are in the evening, for the above-mentioned public bodies to take minutes, operate audiovisual equipment, and provide administrative and technical assistance. Responds to GRAMA requests and other applications as assigned. Updates the economic development and community development websites. Ideal CandidateBachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration or a closely related field2-3 years of experience in city planning or closely related field. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be evaluated for qualifying experience on a case-by-case basis.Experience with various computer programs.Communicate (verbal and written) with the public and governmental officials.
