Washington St. Suite, 310Phoenix, AZ 85007The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on-site at ADWR Headquarters. This position is not eligible for remote work.Posting Details:Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000Grade: 17Closing Date: Open Until FilledJob Summary:This position provides full administrative and logistical support to the Legal Division. This position also provides support as needed to other sections of the Arizona Department of Water Resources as well as boards and commissions staffed by Department employees. This is an in-office position. Many of the duties of this position are highly confidential in nature. The Legal Division is looking for a Legal Assistant, proficient in technology, and with an interest in working in the public sector and water law. Court filing and litigation experience is preferred.Job Duties:Duties include, but are not limited to:Drafting and editing documents including correspondence, reports, and pleadingsFiling court briefs and pleadings with the courts, using electronic and paper meansScheduling and setting up in person, virtual and hybrid meetingsMaintaining calendars and files for the Legal Division on a daily basisMaking travel arrangementsMaintaining Legal Division suppliesAttending team meetings to take minutesCoordinating matters between organizational unitsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of:Principles and practices of administration and managementTechniques and principles for effective written and verbal communication in various formats and settings such as in briefs, memos, and reports as well as with external contacts that include attorneys, constituents, and other agenciesFamiliarity with the various court systems and the acceptable methods of filing and serviceRecords management proceduresAppropriate channels of communication with legislators and/or other officialsProblem solving techniquesSkills in:Court filings, electronically and paper meansAdministrative tasksConcise and effective oral and written communication, with internal staff and external contactsFollowing/taking a variety of delegated directions/decisions without close supervisionProblem-solvingHandling detailed work with accuracy and speedExercising good judgement and discretionPrioritizing, scheduling and monitoring work activities of staffStrong customer service skillsAbility to:Operate a computer and generate word processing documentsExercise tact and integrity in the frequent handling of confidential informationSet priorities and efficiently manage a varied workloadDevelop effective operating proceduresDevelop resources and coordinate activitiesInteract with outside entities with diplomacy and tact; form and maintain cordial working relationships with all levels of agency staffBe well organized and have effective time-management skillsWork with interruptions and adapt to changing prioritiesPerform detailed work with a high degree of accuracySelective Preference(s):A minimum of five years of administrative and/or paralegal related experience.
