PT & SEASONAL WATER OPERATOR IIPUBLIC WORKS DEPTPay Grade PT5GENERAL PURPOSEUnder the supervision of Water Division Foremen and the Water Division Manager, performs a variety of general maintenance, service and repair on the city drinking water and pressurized irrigation systems.Essential FunctionsSafety Systems. Responsible to perform the following tasks safely, accurately, and according to City Policies and Procedures and state and federal regulations.Water SamplingChlorine Dosage/Leak DetectionCross-Connection Detection and PreventionConfined Space PermittingTraffic ControlTrench ShoringEquipment Operation. Operates and directs the operation and maintenance of light, medium and heavy equipment including but not limited to the following.LoadersBackhoes and TrackhoesRollersFork LiftsVactor Jet TrucksDump TrucksJack HammersSaws and GrindersAir CompressorsLeak Detection EquipmentHand ToolsMiscellaneous Duties as Assigned. Must be able to report to work on time as scheduled and abide by all city policies and procedures. Must work well with others and be a team player. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to deal with the public in a pleasant and courteous manner in all circumstances.Perform other duties as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDSPhysical Demands. Requires moderate to heavy physical activity. Required to push, pull or lift medium to heavy weights. Required to work in difficult working positions. May have to stand, walk, or sit in uncomfortable positions for extended periodsWorking Conditions. Exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous materials, chemicals and fumes, and prolonged high noise levels. Often works in and around vehicular traffic. May at times include exposure to high stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.Hazards. Occupational safety and health hazards may be encountered under controlled conditions. May be required to work unconventional work hours or shifts.Position QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: Five (5) years experience in related work or possess Water Distribution Class II Certification.CPR Certification: Within 1 year of hire date.Utah CDL: Class B.Forklift Certification: Within 1 year of hire date.Flagging Certification: Within 1 year of hire date.Traffic Control Technician Certification: Within 1 year of hire date.Mandatory for applicant to work on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week within a rotated schedule. Applicant must be able to respond to emergencies in 20 minutes.Salary: $14.74 - $22.10 per hour
