Lead Teacher
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Lead Teacher to join our team. We are a nonprofit partnering with JCPS in providing free programming for the children of parents/guardians who are attending Adult Ed courses (GED & ESL).
This position will include working with a group of up to 30 students on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:45-8:30pm. You will be given paid planning time each week. Paid training will be provided to get you started! There will also be an assistant teacher/reading tutor in the classroom with you.
Responsibilities
Maintaining a positive relationship with youth, adults/guardians, and other staff members, including community center and school staff
Planning for and implementing curriculum and activities as the whole group teacher (curriculum provided)
General paperwork (daily, weekly, monthly)
Set and maintain a consistent schedule for students, staff, volunteers
Attend school based functions such as literacy night when possible
Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances, including strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Providing leadership and guidance for all participants
Ability to care for and manage children of all diverse backgrounds, both in whole group and individually
Check email daily. Respond when necessary. Report to IWRBR Program Coordinator. Attend monthly staff meeting.
Skills
- Experience working with elementary aged students
- Familiarity with behavioral strategies and interventions
- Ability to adapt and make quick decisions to meet the needs of diverse learners
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 8 per week
