Inventory Specialist

Job Summary The Inventory Specialist manages the intake, counting, and ongoing tracking of all live fish, invertebrates, corals and dry goods. This role ensures that the store's physical livestock and goods match the digital Point-of-Sale (POS) records while maintaining the health of the "inventory" through daily monitoring and water quality checks. Key Responsibilities Receiving & Intake: Verify quantities against packing slips, and document any "Dead on Arrival" (DOA). Cycle Counting: Perform regular physical counts of dry goods & fish in display and holding tanks to reconcile against the store's inventory management system. Stock Health Tracking: Monitor and record fish loss and update inventory logs to reflect current available stock for customers. Database Maintenance: Update the POS system with new arrivals, ensuring species names, and quantities are accurate. Livestock Support: Assist in feeding and water testing for specific tanks to ensure the "inventory" remains viable for sale. Required Qualifications Experience: 1+ years of experience in aquarium keeping (freshwater, saltwater, or reef) is highly preferred. Technical Skills: Familiarity with basic Microsoft Excel for tracking loss rates. Knowledge: Basic understanding of water chemistry (pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate) and species identification. Attention to Detail: Ability to distinguish between similar species (e.g., different types of Tetras or Cichlids) during counting. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts and lift up to 40 lbs (buckets, salt bags, or aquarium tanks). Salary Expectations (2026) Hourly Rate: $16.00 per hour.
