Senior Instrument EngineerGreenville, SC (Primary) | Nationwide Office FlexibilityHargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a Senior Instrument Engineer to support complex industrial EPC projects across the U.S. While this role is anchored in our Greenville, SC division, we are actively recruiting nationwide talent and will consider alignment with additional Hargrove offices in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Pennsylvania, based on project and business needs.This is a full-time, long-term opportunity offering competitive compensation, full benefits, relocation assistance (where applicable), and opportunities for technical and leadership growth within Hargrove’s collaborative “One Team” culture.What You’ll DoPerform complete design and engineering for complex instrumentation and control systemsApply advanced engineering techniques and analysis to industrial process and manufacturing projectsServe as discipline lead on small to mid-sized projectsDevelop:Instrumentation installation details, cable schedules, control panel layouts, grounding, and instrument plansControl narratives, P&IDs (measurement and control), and conceptual layoutsInstrumentation specifications, data sheets, and construction specificationsProduce estimate-level designs, material take-offs, cost studies, and man-hour budgetsReview and check engineering calculations, drawings, and vendor documentation for accuracy and complianceCoordinate with electrical, mechanical, process, and construction teamsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designersSupport procurement through bid packages, scopes, and technical evaluationsPerform fieldwork and construction support, including tie-ins and startup assistanceIdentify and communicate scope, schedule, and design changesSupport interoffice execution and lead virtual project teamsEnsure work is executed in accordance with scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectationsWhat We’re Looking ForEducation & CredentialsBachelor of Science in Instrumentation, Controls, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related disciplineProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferred, but not requiredExperience10–15+ years of progressive experience in industrial instrumentation and controls engineeringEPC experience supporting chemical, manufacturing, power, or heavy industrial facilitiesTechnical ExpertiseKnowledge and application of:ISA standards and industry best practicesNational Electrical Code (NEC), as applicable to instrumentation systemsAbility to:Develop instrumentation installation specifications and construction documentsSpecify process instrumentation, analyzers, control systems, and actuated valvesSize control valves using appropriate softwareDevelop control narratives and contribute to P&IDsExperience with:PLC, DCS, and/or SIS platformsVendor drawing review and construction submittalsInstrument bulk materials and installation detailsAbility to:Estimate task completion, construction costs, and engineering schedulesDevelop work-sharing packages for interoffice executionAct as Engineer of Record when PE certification is requiredStrong working knowledge of:AutoCAD and/or MicroStationMicrosoft Word, Excel, and OutlookExcellent written, verbal, and presentation skillsLocations & Work ModelPrimary location: Greenville, SCAdditional office flexibility: TX, LA, AL, GA, PAHybrid and interoffice execution support may be availableRelocation assistance may be offered for qualified candidatesWhy Hargrove30+ years as a trusted industrial EPC partnerLong-term project stability and career growthTechnical leadership opportunities on complex projectsStrong interoffice collaboration and employee-focused cultureCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits👉 If you’re a senior-level Instrument Engineer looking to lead impactful industrial projects with geographic flexibility, we’d love to connect.Hargrove CultureWe work to create an environment founded on trust, personal integrity, and a “team mentality” so that each person understands the value of their contributions both on a project and company-wide level.
