Application Engineer

The ideal candidate will have a degree in computer science and experience in developing multiple applications. This candidate should be able to generate clean code and optimal solutions based on the outlined criteria. This candidate should also work closely with various teams in order to establish best practices, codes to utilize and ultimately, execute in creating a highly functional application. ResponsibilitiesUnderstand goals of application and determine necessary technologiesDevelop SQL scripts and stored procedures for SQL server databaseUnderstand full software design life cycle and be able to create workarounds where possibleCollaborate with other engineering teams and product teams to ensure correct code is in placeQualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science or relevant fieldStrong coding in a variety of languages and technical communication skillsDetail oriented Ability to multitaskAct as technical lead and subject matter expert for:Double Column Machines (Bridge Mills)Boring MillsLarge Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs)Large Horizontal Machining Centers (HMCs)Vertical Turning Centers and large platform systemsLead machine setup, installations, prove-outs, and process execution for large and complex componentsDevelop and optimize machining processes for heavy cuts, large work envelopes, and challenging materialsExecute cutting demonstrations showcasing performance of large machine platformsSupport pre-sale engineering activities, including:Machine selectionApplication feasibility reviewsCustomer process evaluationsConfiguration recommendationsProvide hands-on technical support to key customers, distributors, and internal teamsSupport project delivery, including coordination of special machine options and order requirementsMentor Applications Engineers on large machine setup, workholding, tooling strategy, and troubleshootingCollaborate closely with Sales and leadership on strategic large equipment opportunitiesSupport technical communication with headquarters to ensure alignment on specifications, processes, and project requirementsTrain customers and internal teams on machine operation, controls, and best practicesSupport open houses, trade shows, and customer eventsTravel extensively for installations, demonstrations, and project support (up to 90%)Job RequirementsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Machine Tool Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience10+ years of CNC machining experience, with strong focus on large machine toolsProven experience with:Double column machinesBoring millsLarge VMC/HMC platformsStrong background in machine setup, rigging awareness, part alignment, and process validationExperience with Fanuc and/or Siemens controlsWorking knowledge of G-code programmingDemonstrated leadership or mentoring experienceStrong troubleshooting skills in heavy machining environmentsExperience in Aerospace, Energy, Heavy Equipment, Government, or similar industries preferredAbility to work across teams and collaborate in a global environment
