Construction Superintendent

About the PositionThe Site Superintendent is responsible for reviewing and directing the site workers at site installations in accordance with the company's policy requirements as well as national and international standards and the customer’s specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in the commercial construction industry, an understanding of the company’s safety plan, specific quality control inherent to construction sites, and knowledge in building facilities. The job includes significant fieldwork and time on site.The Site Superintendent must be thorough and observant with an eye for detail. He/she must fully understand requirements and have a results-driven approach to achieving high quality.Key Responsibilities Include:Live the company values:Demonstrate competence to safety and build projects of high quality.Honesty and integrity to build trustworthy relationships.Work hard and do everything in your ability to support your team.Create effective partnerships with clients, employees, and construction partners.Daily field management of field personnel, subcontractors and suppliersImplementation of the safety and quality plan on the jobsite; including leading toolbox talks, reporting of incidents, conducting inspections and participating in other respective company safety and quality initiatives.Mentorship of junior field staff including project engineers, assistant superintendents, foreman and trade workers to ensure they can develop and progress in their career paths. Provide coaching opportunities and feedback to respective supervisorsDaily communication with jobsite teams and lead/delegate job briefing or morning tailboard meeting.Project Change Management including Owner changes which involve Requests for Information, Request for Proposals, Architect Supplemental Instructions, Change Directives and Proceed Orders and Unforeseen Conditions; Poettker Changes which includes Back Charges, Scope Gaps, and Time & Materials (T&M) Work; as well as meeting Process Time Frames.Logging daily detailed and accurate field reports in Procore (or other applicable software’s) with picturesCreate detailed and accurate 4 week schedule, work with project team to maintain accurate master schedule, hold subs accountable to contract documents and project scheduleCoordinate with project management to ensure pre-install meetings are schedules and support the facilitating of those meetings with quality or risk management personnel.Organizing Preconstruction Meetings, Owner and Progress Meetings, Pay Application Meetings, Subcontractor Coordination Meetings, Pre-Installation MeetingsAssist Project Manager with Pay App requests to confirm percentage of work completed is accurateIdentify issues that may cause delays and discuss with PM and subsInteract and collaborate with the Owner and Architect to ensure clients expectations are met and satisfaction achievedOversee and coordinate self-perform crews and monitor/maintain respective project budget. Communicate any overages immediately to others including Project Manager, Project Estimator, and others.Coordinate inspections, schedule tests and AHJ requirements per the project specificationsProject close-out (punch list, occupancy and final acceptance)If any of these responsibilities or tasks are delegated to another project team member, it is ultimately the responsibility of this position to ensure that the task is executed to the expectations of the company and client.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent5+ years proven experience in construction industryOSHA-30 trainingEM-385 training preferredExperience supervising self-perform work preferredSome travel requiredHiring Range: $80,000 - $130,000At Poettker Construction, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. wE take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligibile for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
