Controls Engineer
Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented Controls/Automation Engineer to join our engineering team in Piney Flats, Tennessee. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving manufacturing processes, and leading automation initiatives that directly impact production performance.
In this role, you'll be a key contributor in designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems across our manufacturing operations. You'll work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance equipment reliability, increase efficiency, and support continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant.

What You'll Do
Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems
Support manufacturing operations by identifying and resolving automation and controls-related issues
Lead and execute automation projects focused on productivity, quality, and safety improvements
Develop and modify HMI and SCADA applications
Analyze equipment performance data and implement reliability improvements
Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve plant performance
Support electrical and controls system upgrades, installations, and commissioning activities
Create and maintain technical documentation, control narratives, and system drawings
Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing automation and controls best practices
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline preferred.
Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting in an industrial manufacturing environment
Knowledge of industrial networks, motor controls, VFDs, sensors, and instrumentation
Experience with HMI and SCADA systems
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Ability to manage projects and work effectively across cross-functional teams
