Mechanical Design Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Design Engineer works closely with the Machine Engineering Supervisor and Engineering Manager to develop equipment for the manufacturing and processing of product. They work with the Designer and Draftsman to ensure the completed documentation and execution of the equipment.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Design machine components and assemblies based on project requirements.
Evaluate the components and systems of each project to ensure an appropriate life span.
Create technical drawings and models utilizing GD&T and tolerances for proper function.
Preform calculations for gear ratios, motor sizes, and other mechanical components.
Preform calculations for deflection, deformation, wear resistance, duty/life cycle for machine components and systems.
Choose materials and post processes for desired component function.
Layout manufacturing process to ensure designs will perform as desired.
Take on and complete any work that is assigned by the tool room Area/Shift leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. Mechanical Engineering Tech or A.S.M.E.T. with minimum 5 Years Relevant design experience
Minimum of 10 years drafting experience.
Familiarization with Cadkey, AutoCAD and Solidworks.
Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
Strong advanced math skills. Strong Trigonometry required.
Basic typing and Microsoft office skills.
Strong ability to use Excel for dynamic calculations.
Familiar with engineering calculations, such as deflection, stress, strain, life span.
Ability to use computer and software as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to bend, squat, twist and kneel.
Will be sitting approximately 90% of the day.
Ability to use hand and power tools.
Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
