Women's Basketball Assistant Coach

Purpose Of Position And Scope Of Responsibility:Assist with on-court coaching and player development. The candidate must be committed to the student athlete’s academic, personal and athletic growth. Assist in daily operations of the women’s basketball program, such as recruiting, scouting, practice planning and help with budgeting and traveling. Assist in social media posts to promote the program and Bethel University.Under the general direction of the Vice President of AthleticsUnder the direct supervision of the Head Women’s Basketball CoachWorks as needed.Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:Recruitment and Enrollment Support Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes.Maintain communication with recruits, coaches, and families.Assist with on-campus visits and coordination with admissions.Support roster management and retention efforts.Team Operations and Travel CoordinationAssist with team travel logistics, including hotel arrangements, rooming lists, transportation, and meals.Ensure organization and execution of travel within university guidelines.Support home and away game operations.Development of playersMonitor academic progress and encourage academic success.Provide mentorship and promote personal growth and leadership.Support a positive team culture aligned with university values.Budget and Administrative Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in operating within the program budget.Monitor and document travel expenses, hotel costs, meals, and recruiting expenditures.Submit receipts and expense reports in accordance with university policies and procedures.Promote cost-effective decision-making in all areas of program operations.Camps, Fundraising and Community Engagement Assist with the planning and execution of camps and clinics.Support fundraising efforts and community engagement initiatives.Represent the women’s basketball program at university and community events.ComplianceAdhere to all rules and regulations of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, conference, and Bethel UniversityMaintain accurate records for recruiting and team operations.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.Minimum QualificationsKnowledge/EducationExperienceLicensure, Registration, CertificationBachelor’s DegreeRelated work experience in coaching basketballDesired QualificationsKnowledge/EducationExperienceLicensure, Registration, CertificationMaster’s Degree5 years of experience as a high school/collegiate coachPhysical Requirements:Work requires moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on a continuous basis (over 50% of time); or heavy physical exertion (over 50 pounds) on a frequent basis (up to 50% of time).Environmental Conditions:Work involves intermittent to occasional exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements; may involve some contact with potentially hazardous or harmful elements in providing administrative or support services.
