Upper School Social Studies Teacher

Overview:Connelly School of the Holy Child is seeking an experienced and passionate Upper School Social Studies Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. This role is pivotal in delivering an engaging and challenging social studies curriculum to high school students, encouraging critical thinking, global awareness, and a deep understanding of historical, political, and cultural contexts. We emphasize academic challenge, a joy of learning, and leadership among young women through diverse and enriching experiences.Responsibilities:Planning and delivering comprehensive social studies lessons that align with curricular standards and meet diverse learning needsEncouraging critical analysis, discussion, and inquiry among students regarding historical events, government, economics, and current affairsAssessing student progress through various formative and summative evaluationsIntegrating technology and multimedia resources to enrich the learning experienceCollaborating with fellow faculty to support interdisciplinary initiatives and school-wide programsAdvising and supporting students in their academic and personal growthParticipating actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community eventsRequirementsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in History, Social Studies Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferredTeaching certification in Social Studies or equivalent preferredDemonstrated experience teaching social studies at the high school levelStrong knowledge of social studies content, with emphasis on Ancient and Early World History, and Art HistoryInterpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate studentsCommitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and supportive learning environmentProficiency in integrating technology into instructionAlignment with the mission and values of Connelly School of the Holy ChildBenefitsHealth Insurance (Medical, Dental & Vision) Retirement Plan (401k, IRA) Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D) Paid Time OffShort Term & Long-Term Disability Training & Development Pay is commensurate with education and experience, and is calculated according to a school-wide pay scale.
