The ideal candidate will lead database modernization initiatives, including migrating SQL Server environments from on-premises data centers to AWS. This role requires strong hands-on experience in database administration, performance tuning, high availability, and enterprise-scale migration programs.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Architecture & MigrationLead and execute migration of SQL Server databases from on-premises environments to AWS EC2Assess current database environments and define migration, upgrade, and optimization strategiesDesign target-state database architecture aligned with AWS best practicesSupport data center exit and cloud transformation initiativesSQL Server Administration & PerformancePerform installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning of SQL ServerOptimize database performance, query execution, and resource utilizationConduct performance benchmarking and validation post-migrationHigh Availability & Disaster Recovery Implement and manage HA/DR solutions including:Always On Availability GroupsFailover ClusteringBackup and Restore strategiesEnsure business continuity and minimal downtime during migrationCloud Infrastructure & Integration Work with AWS services including:EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, VPCSupport hybrid environments during transition from on-prem to cloudCollaborate with application teams supporting Java and .NET workloadsEnsure seamless integration with middleware systems such as TIBCO ESBSecurity & ComplianceImplement database security controls including access management, encryption, and auditingEnsure compliance with enterprise security and governance standardsCollaboration & DocumentationCoordinate with infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and application teamsDocument database architecture, configurations, and operational proceduresSupport testing, validation, troubleshooting, and hypercare activitiesRequired SkillsDatabase Expertise Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environmentsExpertise in:Database tuning and optimizationSQL performance troubleshootingInstallation, upgrades, and patchingCloud & Migration Hands-on experience with SQL Server on AWS EC2Strong understanding of AWS services:EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, VPCExperience in on-prem to AWS migration programsHigh Availability & Infrastructure Deep knowledge of:Always On Availability GroupsFailover ClusteringBackup and Recovery strategiesExperience with Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022/2025)Technical & Integration SkillsKnowledge of hybrid architectures and cloud networkingExperience supporting applications built on Java and .NETFamiliarity with middleware such as TIBCO ESBStrong SQL and database troubleshooting skillsPreferred SkillsExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar tools)Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for database deploymentsExperience in large-scale enterprise migration or data center exit programsAWS or Microsoft SQL Server certifications
