Telecommunications Lineperson

Job Title: Lineperson Department: Outside Plant Reports To: Outside Plant Manager SUMMARY: Installs and maintains outside plant telecommunications facilities by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Please note, this position will require work tours out of town, travel is required ● Installs, repairs and maintains outside plant facilities including telephone poles, underground services, conduit and cable/fiber. ● Operates and maintains heavy equipment; lifts and load material and equipment onto company vehicles ● Assures dependable and uninterrupted operation of telephone/internet service ● Performs preventive and routine maintenance; troubleshoots and identifies malfunctioning or inoperative equipment. ● Identifies problems using electronic test equipment ● Attends training to stay current on industry standards as needed ● Will be required to work at heights, aloft for long periods of time utilizing an aerial lift, ladders, and wood pole climbing equipment ● Splices & Tests Fiber Optic Cable Certificates/Qualifications: Class “A” Commercial Drivers License is preferred. Must possess a clean driving record for this position. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to climb poles using hooks and ladders is required.
