Managing Consulting Actuary
We are seeking a Senior Actuary with deep expertise in either Medicare Advantage, government programs, or value-based care (VBC) to advise clients on complex financial and strategic decisions.This role is highly consultative and externally facing, requiring the ability to partner with health plans, providers, and healthcare organizations to design and optimize risk-based and value-based payment models. The Managing Consulting Actuary will lead engagements that directly influence financial performance, contract strategy, and long-term growth in Medicare and VBC-driven markets.Key Responsibilites Strategic Client Advisory (Medicare & VBC Focus)Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on Medicare Advantage strategy, risk adjustment, and value-based payment designProvide guidance on risk-sharing arrangements, capitation models, and alternative payment structuresAdvise on financial performance, market positioning, and growth strategy within government programs and VBC modelsTranslate complex actuarial analyses into clear recommendations for executive stakeholdersEngagement & Delivery ManagementLead end-to-end execution of complex consulting engagements across Medicare, Medicaid, and VBC initiativesEnsure high-quality deliverables across areas such as pricing strategy, contract evaluation, and financial modelingManage project timelines, scope, and client expectations across multiple engagementsValue-Based Care & InnovationSupport clients in designing and evaluating value-based care arrangements, including ACO, MSSP, and risk-bearing provider modelsAssess financial impact of care delivery transformation initiatives and population health programsPartner with clients to optimize provider incentives, performance metrics, and reimbursement structuresTeam Leadership & DevelopmentLead and mentor actuarial and analytics teams, providing guidance on healthcare and Medicare-focused workstreamsFoster development of talent in VBC analytics, risk adjustment, and advanced actuarial techniquesPromote collaboration across actuarial, clinical, and strategy functionsBusiness DevelopmentIdentify opportunities to expand work in Medicare Advantage and value-based care consultingSupport client proposals, presentations, and thought leadership focused on healthcare transformationBuild long-term client relationships as a trusted strategic partnerQualificationsASA or FSA requiredStrong, hands-on experience in Medicare Advantage, Medicare, or government healthcare programs is essentialDemonstrated expertise in at least one of the following: Value-based care (VBC) or alternative payment modelsRisk adjustment (RAF), coding, and revenue optimizationMedicare bid development, pricing, or forecastingTrack record of leading client engagementsProven ability to communicate complex healthcare and financial concepts to non-technical stakeholdersPreferred ExperienceExperience working with ACO REACH, MSSP, bundled payments, or capitation arrangementsFamiliarity with Medicaid managed care or dual-eligible populationsExposure to provider-side or payor-provider integrated modelsExperience supporting regulatory strategy, CMS programs, or healthcare policy implications
