A successful Journeyman Carpenter I for DD Ford Construction:
Lays out and builds stairs, decks, and handrails including curved elements
Is able to perform all waterproofing tasks as related to finish carpentry elements.
Sets assembled windows, window frames, fixed glass, and hangs window sash.
Sets pre-hung door units, interior and exterior
Reads blueprints and performs all tasks associated with finish carpentry including custom work as required by the job.
Operates a transit and builder's level
Does all intricate interior trim, including hanging cabinets, molding, paneling, etc.
Lays out and cuts or mills curved trim elements.
Sets door jambs, hangs doors (including arch top doors) and installs door hardware
Uses all types of power and hand tools to accomplish work.
Provides work direction for others on site.
Sets the example for all other construction workers on site. Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships.
Ensures safe working conditions and observes all safety rules. Reports all unsafe conditions or practices to the Lead Carpenter, Superintendent, and Trade Labor Supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education/ Experience: No minimum educations required. Minimum of 6 years' experience as a Carpenter, with the last 4 years as a Journeyman Carpenter.
Language: A foreign language is not required. Bilingual skills a plus.
Mathematical Skills: Building math skills required.
Reasoning Skills: Must be able to logically think through job responsibilities and perform them safely and effectively
Other Skills & Abilities: Must work well with others. Ability to work unsupervised and be self-directed

Finish and framing hammers, tape measure(s), utility knife, nail puller, pry bar, phillips and slot screwdrivers, notepad, framing square, combination square, chalk box, nail sets, side and front cutters, wood chisels, corner chisel, levels (2’, 4’ and 6’), plumb bob, bevel square, handsaw, coping saw, allen wrenches, crescent wrenches, metal file, block pane, caulking guns, hot melt glue gun, circular saw, reciprocating saw, small disc grinder, jig saw, 1/2” power drill, hole saw kit, forstner bits, 3/8” power drill, drill bits, cordless drill/driver with extra battery and screw tips, hammer drill, “right” angle drill, dual action sander, belt sander, corner sander, power miter saw, compound miter saw, router and router bits, laminate trimmer, power plane, door planer, butt templates, strike and latch templates, cylindrical lock bore kit, biscuit/plate joiner, pocket hole cutter, portable table saw, compressor, air hoses, pneumatic nail guns, worktable, saw horses, and ladders.
