THIS IS AN UNPAID VOLUNTEER POSITIONHospice Volunteer - Pet Peace of Mind ProgramBring comfort to patients by caring for the companions they love most.Do you have a heart for helping others-and a soft spot for animals? Join our Pet Peace of Mind volunteer team and support hospice patients by caring for their beloved pets during a vulnerable time in their lives.Position: Hospice Volunteer - Pet Peace of MindWhat You'll Do:Our Pet Peace of Mind volunteers provide comfort and peace of mind to hospice patients by helping care for their pets when they are no longer able to do so themselves. You'll play a vital role in preserving the bond between patients and their furry companions.Tasks May Include:*Walking dogs and cleaning up after them* Feeding pets and refreshing water bowls* Providing companionship and playtime* Transporting pets to veterinary or grooming appointments* Helping with light pet-related chores (cleaning litter boxes, tidying pet areas)* Offering emotional support through conversations and friendly visits with patientsAlong with caring for Pets, you are also able to offer friendly visits to Hospice patients.Visits may include the following activities:ConversationRespite CarePrepare snackReminisce & look at photosReview current eventsRead the newspaper, books, or magazines.Write lettersProvide appointment remindersChronicle life experiencesAssist with recreational activitiesTake WalksParticipate in craftsDo PuzzlesListen to musicPlay Board Games/CardsWatch movies/TV showsWhy It Matters:Pets are family. As patients cope with serious illness, knowing their pet is safe and loved brings incredible peace. Your support allows patients to stay connected with their pets and focus on comfort and quality of life.Knowledge and skills required for the position are:Establish a basis for friendship through mutuality and trust.Provide emotional support to patient and caregiver.Provide respite care as needed.Encourage recreational or diversional activities; such as to read todiscuss articles or booksplay gameswrite lettersshare hobbiesmake scrapbooks for photos and memorabilia.May provide following assists as secondary to social contact; such as light housekeeping tasks.No hands-on medical care is required or permitted-this role is strictly non-clinical and supportive.Will you join our team?Make a Difference - One Paw at a Time.Join us in supporting both people and pets at a time when love and connection matter most
