Grounded in Catholic values, the nurse partners closely with families, teachers, and administrators to ensure students are healthy, supported, and ready to learn during these foundational years.Primary Responsibilities● Provide daily health care and first aid to early childhood students in a calm, reassuring, and developmentally appropriate manner.● Assess minor illnesses and injuries and determine appropriate next steps.● Administer medications in accordance with school policy, physician orders, and ISBE regulations.● Maintain accurate, confidential health records for all early childhood students.● Monitor and support students with chronic health needs, allergies, and medical conditions.● Develop and implement individual health care plans as needed.● Communicate compassionately and clearly with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns.● Collaborate with early childhood teachers, assistants, and administrators to support student success.● Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate care with emergency services when necessary.● Support toileting, hygiene, and daily health routines appropriate for young children.● Promote healthy habits, wellness, and safety through age-appropriate practices and guidance.● Assist with health screenings, immunization compliance, and required early childhood health documentation.● Support a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.● Uphold and model the mission and values of Saints JFX School and Catholic education.QualificationsRegistered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), per state requirementsValid nursing license in the stateExperience working with young children strongly preferred (pediatric or early childhood setting)Knowledge of early childhood development, health and safety regulations, and best practicesStrong communication, organization, and collaboration skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgmentCommitment to nurturing the whole child-mind, body, and spiritPersonal Qualities● Warm, patient, and nurturing demeanor● Calm and confident in high-need or emergency situations● Flexible, compassionate, and team-oriented● Strong advocate for early childhood health and well-being● Respectful partner with families during early developmental stagesThe Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive total rewards package to include competitive compensation and benefit programs. An employee's pay within the salary will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.*
