Project Manager (00563)
The Project Manager independently manages small-to-medium construction projects or portions of larger programs. They oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination to ensure successful delivery in alignment with scope, cost, and timeline objectives. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams with minimal oversight. In addition to project execution, the Project Manager III supports contract administration, risk mitigation, and QA/QC processes. They serve as a key liaison among clients, contractors, and internal teams, helping to resolve issues, facilitate communication, and implement project management best practices across the organization.Organizational Responsibilities Direct day-to-day construction project planning and execution to meet project design, schedule, and financial objectivesDevelop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource allocationsEstablish and maintain project governance processes and PM toolsConduct site supervision and provide QA/QC observations during construction and closeout phasesCoordinate architect and engineer responses to on-site concernsMonitor project milestones, changes, and technical progress; develop recovery plans as neededLiaise with owners, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to resolve conflicts and align project goalsSupport contract administration and third-party vendor coordinationLead project meetings and facilitate communication across teamsMentor and provide oversight to junior staff, contributing to professional developmentIdentify risks, track project performance metrics, and recommend process improvementsParticipate in the development of procurement documents and construction specificationsAssist in preparation and review of submittals, RFIs, and change ordersInterface regularly with internal departments and external clients, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Other duties as assignedPosition Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field required7+ years of relevant experience in the construction or project management field, with water/wastewater experience preferredExperience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultantsProven ability to work independently and manage concurrent project tasksProficient in project management software; hands-on experience with Primavera P6 preferredFamiliarity with submittals, RFIs, construction documentation, and procurement processesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to present project deliverables and facilitate team discussionsOn-site presence is required several days per weekAn equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered in lieu of stated minimum qualificationsAdditional RequirementsPhysical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.About PMAAt PMA, employee well-being is a daily priority.
